If you are contemplating a career in the media and are looking for a challenging but rewarding experience then a Journalism placement with Projects Abroad may be right for you.

Volunteers can choose to work either on a Print Journalism placement or on a Broadcast placement.

A project in Print journalism will provide you with a unique insight into the culture of the local community in which you are based. You will work with a newspaper or magazine, where you will learn valuable journalism skills and gain important experience in this field.

Alternatively, if you prefer broadcasting, Projects Abroad can arrange a placement working on either a TV or radio station. This is a great way to enhance your knowledge and understanding of the communities and attitudes in the developing world. Depending on your ability you may find yourself either researching, behind-the-scenes or even presenting in front of the camera.

Whichever project you choose you will get to meet a variety of people from all areas of society, getting a very real and hands-on experience. For most of these placements you do not need any foreign language ability as the publications and stations generally write or speak in English.

We also accept qualified journalists on professional placements where you can put your skills and expertise to good use.
