Volunteering on a Law & Human Rights internship with Projects Abroad gives you the chance to make a real difference to the lives of people in the developing world.

We offer both Law and Human Rights placements, as well as combined programmes.

Whether you are considering a career in law, currently studing or are already qualified, a voluntary placement will greatly enhance your CV. As a volunteer you will become part of a legal team, a NGO, or a human rights group providing advice and support to individuals, businesses and community organisations.

You could find yourself focussing on child trafficking in Ghana, domestic violence in South Africa or real estate law in China. Whichever placement you choose you will become a valued member of the team, helping to make a real contribution.

Volunteers on a Human Rights placement will work alongside local staff to educate and inform local communities on their human rights. This may involve working with abused women, refugees, prisoners, and youths. Volunteers may also get involved in activities such as: monitoring election procedures, transitional justice, police reform and organising campaigns.

Our Law placements delve more into legal aspects. You will be based in a typical law firm setting. Areas of focus may include banking law, mergers, acquisitions, corporate intellectual property, taxation and insolvency. There may be an opportunity to interview clients and shadow supervising lawyers in court.

Taking part on any of our Law placements is sure to enhance your knowledge, broaden your understanding of various legal systems and make you stand out from the crowd in this highly competitive job sector.

We also accept qualified lawyers on professional placements where you can put your skills and expertise to good use.
